A long-time client needed his E-Commerce website to be upgraded to be mobile-friendly. The project involved about 6 weeks of planning and testing. The conversion was done overnight, with only 6 hours of site downtime and no loss of customer data. The following technologies were used in developing this website and online store:
- Visual Studio Code
- phpMyAdmin & MySQL database
- OpenCart E-Commerce
This project involved upgrading OpenCart from version 1.4 to version 3.0.3.8. The OpenCart upgrade utility could not be used for this project, because it wasn’t compatible with the old OpenCart version.
Detailed analysis of the old database structure vs. the new database structure was required, then a set of hand-written MySQL commands had to be written to convert the database and load the old data into the new format.
